Q: In the previous summer I wasn't able to work. I’ve recently turned fourteen. Now that I'm the minimum legal age to work, I’m excited to have this opportunity over the summer. How would I go about obtaining working papers for a job?
A:  Dear reader, this Summer will be your year! School officials issue all working papers, so when you are in school, go to your guidance office and ask for a working papers application. After you have the application, be sure to fill this out with your parents and give it in as soon as you can. Please be sure to have your parent or guardian sign the application.

Q: I have been struggling with balancing college applications, clubs, and work. It has been affecting my mental health and it feels like the work will never end. Is there anything you recommend to help relieve some of this stress?
A: Dear reader, during this time of your life, as you start to prepare for the future, it can get pretty overwhelming. Fortunately, this feeling will pass, and in the meantime there are a few ways in which you can stay organized and relaxed during this time. One way in which you can stay organized is by creating a schedule in which you can outline upcoming application deadlines and when you’ll work on each one. That way, you’ll stay on track! In order to practice mindfulness during this stressful period, listening to your favorite tune can help reduce anxiety. You should also take breaks while applying to college. Taking breaks helps to prevent burnout and allows you to rest your mind.
